I am a paralegal with broad civil litigation experience, including business, real estate, and personal injury matters. I can handle most aspects of the written discovery process, and have experience drafting pleadings such as complaints, answers, motions, and conducting legal research. In personal injury cases, I am able to handle most aspects of the pre-litigation phase, including medical record review and drafting settlement demand packages.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Organization and management of high-volume (twenty thousand-plus documents) electronic case document collections.

  • Responsible for document review, issue tagging case documents, assembling and maintaining large electronic assemblage of case documents, drafting pleadings, and propounding and responding to written discovery requests.

This was a short-term project to get one real estate/alter ego matter ready for trial. After the initial real estate/alter ego matter went to trial, I was engaged to work on two additional general litigation matters. My roll in these matters primarily revolved around propounding and responding to discovery.

Bay Area Legal Aid, Fair Housing Tester, December 2015 through June 2016.

  • Conducted on-site inspections of rental units to assess landlord compliance with the California Fair Housing and Employment Act in their rental practices women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities.

Bay Area Legal Aid, Volunteer Paralegal, May 2015 through June 2016.

  • Part of a volunteer clinic of attorneys, law students, and paralegals at the Pittsburg Civil Court assisting pro se petitioners in preparing and filing domestic violence restraining orders with the court.

  • Responsible for much of the prelitigation and discovery process including propounding and responding to discovery requests, drafting pre-litigation demand letters for settlement, and conducting medical record review.

  • Conducted intake meetings with incoming clients seeking domestic violence restraining orders, discussed their reasons for obtaining a restraining order and connected incoming clients with community resources. 
  • Presented new client’s cases to the body of attorneys and staff in weekly case review meetings to decide allocation of attorney resources. 
  • Accompanied clients to court and provided guidance through procedural issues at court in concert with attorneys. 
  • Conducted legal research and drafting memoranda of law.
